This Coleman Brazos Cold Weather Sleeping Bag was created to keep campers warm. And it does its job! Perfect to keep car campers warm down to 30 degrees Fahrenheit, or perhaps a little bit lower if you’re wearing warm clothing. This sleeping bag fulfills all it promises at an affordable price.
Those wanting to take this sleeping bag on the trails may want to look elsewhere, however. While this Coleman bag is a more affordable option compared to many other cold weather sleeping bags, the price shows in its heavier weight. It also is tough to repack in the stuff sack, so it may not be the best if you’re wanting to hit the trails early in the day.
If the weight of the bag is not your biggest priority, then this Coleman Brazos bag is a good quality, affordable option. Comfortable fabrics, the design keeps the zipper from catching, and this bag keeps you warm. Cold weather bag; created for 20-40 degrees Fahrenheit and is not made for warmer weather months.
Best used for car camping trips due to the extra weight. Useful for cold weather camping.
While this bag does come with a compression style stuff sack, it is fairly difficult to fit the bag back into the sack. The stuff sack is created to be able to zip smaller, but it is very difficult to do, so you may not want to depend on its small size.
MATERIALS & DURABILITY
100% Polyester, 100% Polyester fill, and a soft tricot fiber blend liner. The Fiberlock Construction prevents too much insulation from shifting, making the bag more durable over the years. The No-Snag patented zipper system moves the fabric away from the zipper to prevent snags. The seam for the zipper isn’t incredibly strong, so it is something to watch with use.
This bag weighs in at 4 pounds – definitely not the lightest cold weather sleeping bag on the market. However, this Coleman Sleeping Bag was definitely made for car campers or those more casual campers that are not overly concerned with the weight of the bag, but rather the warmth factor and overall affordability.
While this bag will keep you warm in cold temperatures, it’s definitely not made for the opposite reason. With that in mind, this option would not be the best for warmer months, as it will trap your body heat. Also, this bag is specifically designed those 5’11” or less. If you’re taller, this Coleman sleeping bag will not leave you completely covered.
The Coleman Brazos Cool Weather Sleeping Bag is perfect for the person that wants good warmth at an affordable price. While it is definitely designed for car campers, rather than those hoping to hit the trails, the Coleman Brazos Cool Weather Sleeping Bag does live up to its promises at a good price compared to the rest of the category.
