This large Lightspeed Outdoors tent is designed for groups that want to enjoy plenty of space, easy set-up and take-down, and car camping trips with a large group of people. This tent provides space for six individuals plus sleeping pads, or two large inflatable beds. With room for privacy and comfort, families will feel right at home in this tent.
However, as with most large tents, this tent is not designed for hikers or backpackers due to the size and weight of the structure. While this tent is more affordable than many other options in the category, there are a few other cons that you will want to take into consideration. For one, the rain flap does not completely cover the windows, meaning that this tent would not be best if you intend to camp in inclement weather. Additionally, this tent is on the shorter side. So, while you’ll have plenty of space for the whole family, anyone of a taller stature may not be able to stand up completely.
While there are a few cons to this tent, if affordability is your primary concern, then this tent would be a fantastic selection. It performs well in light rain and ideal weather, provides ample space for up to six people plus bags, and allows for simple set-up and take-down. For the right family, this would be a great purchase.
3-season tent – While this tent is designed for all types of weather, it would not be recommended to use this tent in inclement weather, including in the winter.
Best used for families that enjoy car camping and want to sit outdoors to enjoy the fresh air. While there is plenty of floor space in this tent, the short height, even in the middle of the tent, means that it is not ideal if you will be hanging out in the tent for extended periods of time during the day.
This tent is extremely easy to set-up and take-down, leaving you plenty of free time to enjoy the outdoors. However, the tent packs into a large duffel-shaped bag that is not the most durable and may rip during packing.
MATERIALS & DURABILITY
68D 190T polyester fabric tent walls and fly, 120G PE bath tub style floor, 4 mesh windows with zippered blinds, fully taped seams, water-resistant coating, and fiberglass poles. This tent is fairly durable for most car camping trips, though the fabric does receive a bit of pressure during packing.
When packed, this tent weighs 14 pounds.
This tent was not designed for families that want to hang out in their tent for much of the day, as the shorter height means that it is not ideal for adults or taller children standing. This tent is also not suggested for families that are hiking or backpacking, as the weight of the tent shows that it is designed primarily for car camping.
This Lightspeed Outdoors tent is an affordable, well-made option for families that want to enjoy car camping in the great outdoors. While it is a heavier option and is not designed for individuals taller than 55 inches (at the very center of the tent), it provides plenty of floor space for a full family of six plus bags. Overall, this Lightspeed Outdoors large, 6-person tent definitely lives up to its promises.
